BEACH EPISODE PART 2
⭐ Who: Dreamers Decadence, Flyhigh and Mind!
⭐ When: Sometime after Zeke's group hits Facet Lagoon
⭐ Where: Facet Lagoon
⭐ What:slacking off Stabilizing the beach that's already been stabilized!
[The fog between dreamspaces gradually fades, revealing the sapphire sky and gemstone-studded ivory sand of Facet Lagoon. It's as stunningly serene as ever, with no sign of the distortions that have been plaguing the rest of the Dream Sphere. There's not even a single cloud to mar the pefect sky. Ango runs across the warm sand, kicking off his shoes.]
Yes!! It looks like Zeke's crew already stabilized this place after all, so all we've gotta do is stick that unicorn horn somewhere, and then we can set up the beach umbrella and the frozen margarita machine...
[Ango catches Kozakura's disapproving look. At least Misfire is on board, but it only took the promise of an extra-large bag of Cheetos to get Misfire on board.]
...I mean, we can do research! Serious sciency stuff!
[Technically, they're supposed to be figuring out the effects of double-stabilizing an area of the Dream Sphere, but that kind of thing is way beyond Ango's pay grade. He and Misfire are here to provide dubious "support" while Kozakura does the science.]
I'm gonna check out the waves... for science, you know?
[The surfboard that materializes in Ango's hands hints at less-than-scientific objectives, though. He runs towards the water's edge and tosses the board into the lagoon. Is it just his imagination, or is the normally crystal-clear water a lot murkier than usual? Suddenly, a dark shape appears beneath the surface of the water... and something grabs Ango's surfboard and drags it into the shadowy depths.]

…and skids to an audible stop when the surfboard goes under. Fearfully, he turns around, and with a tone much like a child in need of a parent, calls out:]
Mind? There’s science in the water.
no subject
You can have fun once I'm satisfied enough to leave.
[ Don't worry, it's fine, she'll just do the actual work and let the jokers be her body guards. ]
What do you mea-
[ Did something just grab the surfboard?
She shudders. ]
...I hate underwater torments.
no subject
...I thought this area was supposed to be clear! Do Stabilizers piss them off or something?
[If that's the case, then they'll probably have to deal with the Torment in the water before they can apply the second Stabilizer...]
Maybe we can lure it out of the water? My ancestors crawled out of the ocean 360 million years ago to get away from shit like this, and I ain't going back.
no subject
[He looks over his shoulder.]
Right, Mind?
no subject
[ He was asserting that he's not too old or something the other day.
Kozakura spins her staff around and plants it in the sand. ]
I promise I'm a good shot.
no subject
...Fine! I'll create a distraction.
[Grumbling, he cautiously approaches the water's edge and waves his arms.]
Heeeey, come out here and eat me! I'm tender and delicious!
[Something stirs beneath the surface of the murky water, but the fishy Tormet isn't taking the bait. He's going to need to step up his game if he wants to impress Ai and Sudo.]
...Alright, screw it. Flyhigh, I need some backup here! I think it's attracted to movement... can you dance?
no subject
Do the fish swim? Is the sky blue? ...Is the sky blue?
[With the Dreamsphere, you have to double check those things.]
Point is, you are looking at the one-time Miami beach DDR competition runner-up. [He interlocks his fingers, stretching his arms out. There's an audible click of his joints.] Let's get it on.
[He turns to face Mind behind him, absolutely devious.]
We're gonna need a backing track.
no subject
Kozakura looks, almost, mildly impressed at Flyhigh's assertion. She's never had the coordination to be any good at DDR, and while a runner-up isn't something to, exactly brag about, isn't a Miami Beach competition a lot of peopwhat did he just ask her? ]
Huh? Me? What? What do you expect from me?!
no subject
[Ango materializes a battery-powered wireless speaker. While he doesn't have the slightest idea how electronics are made, the Dream Sphere runs on dream logic - if he believes it will work, it will probably work... even if the insides are entirely made from jelly.]
Take this! It's got Bluetooth, so if we think of some good backing tracks, maybe it can play them right out of our brains? You're the smart one, so figure something out!
no subject
The speaker, however, is a nifty idea. Seem's Decadence is pretty resourceful. His only contribution is to call out his request:]
Play some Dua Lipa!
no subject
Damn that's convenient...
Flyhigh! You have to think about it too!
[ Otherwise she'll just play stuff that was popular when she was younger! Or a bunch of video game music! ]
no subject
[As far as Ango is concerned, pop music peaked when he was a teenager in the early 2000s and it's been all downhill ever since (although lately he's developed an interest in idols.)]
Whatever, as long as it's got a beat, I can dance to it!
no subject
Ohhhhh, you're old-old. Gotcha. Don't worry about it, loser.
[He fires off some placating finger guns, and turns his limited attention back to the task at hand.]
Alright, I'm gonna think of a beat and it's gonna just come out of there, right? That's how this works? Then here I go!
[He proceeds to grip his chin deep in thought, focusing all he has on digging out an earworm from his brain. Unfortunately, his memory of beats and lyrics aren't too great, so what's likely to come out is a patchwork guesstimate of a song.]
Hey - [He speaks, at risk of breaking his concentration.] - if we all think of something different, will we end up with a mashup?
no subject
[ Dua Lipa is... a singer.
Who is... white?
Kozakura's knowledge of artists younger than herself is somewhat limited, and she's a turbo-nerd who rarely knows what's popular anyways. ]
I'm gonna try to think of - of something. If it mashes up we just need the rhythm to match!
[ Someday has a pretty... fitting... tempo and rhythm? Maybe? God, she just picked through her fleeting memories of what she remembers other people liking that's danceable though... ]
no subject
I'm not old, I just have an appreciation for the classics. Like Guitar Wolf! Now that's music!
[The tempo doesn't match at all... but at least it's energetic, so maybe it will work. When Ango says that he can dance, what he means is that he can flail around in a sweaty mosh pit at an underground punk show and emerge with all of his teeth at the end of the night.]
no subject
Y'know, at this rate, that Torment'll be coming up to tell us to turn this all down.
[But he can work with this!! Misfire's sense of rhythm is about as good as his aim, so is it really necessary that he's provided with something someone'll be able to dance to?]
Whatevs - let's do this!
[And......go he sure does. Can it really be called dancing? It's definitely moving, and music is playing, but that's about it.]
no subject
[ Sigh. This is pathetic. They're all pathetic - and that's about all they can do to lure it out? ]
I'm ready to fight it at least...
no subject
Something's coming! This dumb plan might actually work!
[A fish head rises from the water, massive jaws gaping to reveal jagged teeth. It looks almost prehistoric as it drags itself onto the shore with powerful fins, like some missing link between fish and land animals... and then, it stands up. Where the ventral fins should be are a pair of disturbingly humanoid legs.
Oh shit, it's a reverse mermaid!
no subject
A reversemaid.
[No, wait, that sounds lame.]
Maidmer?
[That almost sounds lamer.]
Any ideas?
[He should probably start shooting the thing. And yet.]
no subject
...whatever it is, please just kill it.
[ Kozakura grits her teeth and fires a blast. ]
no subject
[Oh. Yeah, wow. Ango's not one to judge, but that is definitely a sex thing.]
...Actually, on second thought, let's kill it. With explosions and fire, if possible.
[Unfortunately, Ango's skill set is lacking in both explosions and fire, so he settles for throwing his knives at the mermaid before running away.]
