Before anyone else can speak up, the temperature in the corridor spikes. The red light takes on orangey tones and grows more vivid and the heat grows more intense, enough so that the air itself wavers with heat mirages. There's a horrible tension in the air and for a frightening moment, it seems like something might happen.

But then in a second, the heat and light are both extinguished. A horrible cold darkness lingers but then in the distance, a white light seems to split through the air, beckoning everyone closer.
