Shinsha grew up in a Buddhist orphanage, so they're used to a meat-free diet... but outside of temples, vegetarians are rare in Japan. In school, Shinsha was always scolded by teachers for being a picky eater, and classmates teased that they must photosynthesize to have grown so tall on so little food. Back at the temple, Sensei showed them how to forage for mushrooms and wild greens in the foothills of the mountains, but here in the city, they're lucky to see a single sliver of mushroom and a few unidentifiable flakes of green stuff floating in their miso soup at the school cafeteria. So they're shocked to see an actual vegan pizza and several vegan snacks.

"How did you know that I don't eat meat...? Amane or Sakurai-san must have said something, right?"
