BEACH EPISODE BEACH EPISODE
⭐ Who: Everybody's invited!
⭐ When: Beginning of August
⭐ Where: Facet Lagoon
⭐ What: Beach party in the Dream Sphere!
⭐ Warnings: Old guys in skimpy bathing suits. (シ;゚Д゚)シ

While wind and rain hammer Yumemigaoka, the weather in the Dream Sphere is perfect for a beach party!
At Facet Lagoon, the sun is shining, the gemstone sands are sparkling, and a pleasant tropical breeze rustles through the emerald palm trees. Umbrellas in a rainbow of colors line the beach, providing welcome shade. Farther back from the shore, tables laden with food and flowers offer familiar summer treats - shaved ice, watermelon, grilled meat, cold noodles, icy drinks, exotic fruits, and soft-serve ice cream.
The beach is generally safe, but aquatic Torments lurk in the lagoon's depths, so make sure you don't swim too far out!
But wait, I didn't bring my swimsuit! Oops, neither did anyone else! You'll just have to improvise! Take off those stuffy petticoats, mod your Dreamer outfit, make a bra out of coconuts if you're feeling crafty, or get Ango to make you an awful swimsuit with his ninja cosplay magic.
Never seen an anime beach episode before? Here are some ideas!

Never seen an anime beach episode before? Here are some ideas!
⭐ Sandcastle Competition
Wherever there's a beach, some kid has dug a massive hole in the sand. Use that pretty gemstone-studded sand to create your ultimate dream palace! The best part is knocking them all down at the end.
⭐ Watermelon Smash
The Japanese version of the piñata game. Players take turn wearing a blindfold and attempt to break open a watermelon using a stick. Whoever manages to break it is the winner! Using weapons and powers is highly encouraged, but try not to completely destroy the watermelon.
⭐ Just Lounging Around
Not interested in splashing or smashing? Soak up that summer sun, or relax under an umbrella with a cold drink and a trashy romance novel.
⭐ Beach Volleyball
Will it be a friendly game or an intense life-and-death sports battle? It's okay if you don't know the rules - just use Dreamer magic to cheat!
⭐ Cave Exploring
The cliffs around Facet Lagoon are honeycombed with caves, both above and below the water. A mysterious glow provides enough light to explore by, but who knows what creatures hide in the shadows?
⭐ Bonfire
As the sun begins to dip towards the horizon, someone makes a pile of driftwood and sets it alight. It's a great time to tell scary stories, or perform your favorite song, or roast marshmallows.
DECADENCE SURF SHACK
Hey, get your swimsuits here!
[He materializes a pink bikini with ruffles, and a leopard print thong. He's not good at making clothes yet, but at least his swimsuits are recognizable as clothes. Ango's powers depend on the strength of his imagination, but he spent a lot of his youth staring at swimsuit catalogs. Before the internet was available on every smartphone, imagination was all you had.]
My power's stretched pretty thin, though, so I can only manage ones that don't require a whole lot of fabric~!
[That's... kind of a lie, but it's a lie told in the service of Summer Shenanigans.]

[ Grumble grumble people get her attention and it's just to mess around on the beach?
But.
But!
The upside is that this isn't The Real Sun, and therefore she won't burn her pathetically pale body if she doesn't cover up. Alas, the downside is that Ango's swimsuits are all terrible.
Okay, she's not an expert though. ]

Can you feel the judging gaze of a young girl? Can you feel it burning through you? Sure, he wasn't talking to her, but Illya is still there on the beach. Watching. Waiting. Judging. All he has to do is turn his head to see her standing there, definitely giving him that judging sort of stare.

[ Wow, some of those swimsuits are by far the most risque Hibiki's ever seen in her life... one of them is so thin that even Hibiki, who always tries to see the best in people, has to question if it even counts as clothing at that point. Hibiki would like to be in an actual swimsuit, but...
Hibiki averts her eyes, trying to look away, but her expression can only be described as very uncomfortable. She's trying to hide it, since he did say this was a limitation of his power and being Hibiki, she assumes the best... but try as she might to hide it, her true feelings on the matter are very clear.
And let's be honest here, if you've got Hibiki of all people judging you poorly, you fucked up dearly somewhere, and you're probably beyond saving. ]

[Amane could probably count all the times he's been to the beach on his hands, so that, paired with missing the Dreamerversary a few months back, had gotten him particularly fired up about this little shindig. With his jacket, boots and dress shirt tossed elsewhere in favor of a tacky summer button down he lifted from one of the shops in the city (along with some equally goofy star shades perched upon his cap), he dashes along the shore, his childish energy out in full, blinding force.]
WAHOO!! It's the beach, the beach--!
[In all that excitement, however, he doesn't even realize he's about to bump into somebody (or possibly run over something) until it's too late. O-Oops...??]
b)
[Once Hanako's calmed down a bit (or at least gotten his fill of the water and the sand for the time being), he's going to be chilling under one of the red umbrellas dotted along the beach, surrounded by... an absolutely baffling amount of food. Hey, you think this is the dragon meat...? It looks sorta like chicken to me.
[If he missed another opportunity to eat Weird Dreamer Food, he is going to be so disappointed.]
ii) wattamelon
[While Hanako's not participating in the Dreamer-Powered-Watermelon-Smash just yet (and honestly, probably for the best, it's not much of a game when you have a knife), he's going to be cheering on whoever's involved from the sidelines-- though not without a bit of chaos thrown in every so often for good measure.]
Above!! ABOVE!! Quick, it's getting away!!
[HANAKO, PLS.... maybe someone should get him to stop?? (Or not-- the game wouldn't be nearly as fun if it was easy, right?)]
iii) spooky scary caves
[Once the sky shifts more towards twilight, setting the area in a bluish glow, one might find Hanako hovering near one of the many caves peppering the area, peering around them with great curiosity. Maybe not too out of the ordinary for a kid his age, but--]
Whooooooaa-- it's like one of those test of courage places you see in an anime ♪ I've always wanted to try doing one of those!
[He turns to whoever's nearby, be it a fellow cave explorer or just some innocent Dreamer minding their business passing through, and he zips up to them, grabbing onto their arm with his eyes alight in excitement.]
Hey, hey! You wanna go check it out? There's gotta be something super spooky in there, right?

But on the other hand, this is still technically in the Dream Sphere, and that means she does want to get some actual training in. Especially when she's still such a new Dreamer, and when this is the perfect chance to practice without anything too dangerous popping in on it.. (O-Or so she hopes, anyway!) ]
( 1. collaboration )
[ So it could be that you're someone Illya knows. Or maybe you just look like you have nothing to do, or you look particularly helpful.. Either way, you'll find the girl approaching you, giving you a very hopeful look. Watch those puppy eyes. Can you resist them? ]
Um, I wanted to try and practice with my powers, but I'll need some targets for it.. Could you help me set them up? W-We could build them out of sand, or something..! [ Though, judging by the girl's rather uncertain tone at the end there, she's probably up for any and all suggestions. She certainly isn't an expert. She only just started training..! ]
( 2. oops )
[ Or maybe you're not the person helping Illya. No, maybe instead you're wandering the beach, completely oblivious as to what's about to happen to you.
Because, you see, Illya is still practicing for a reason. She's so new to this, and unused to her powers.. And that means that firing off projectiles of light energy doesn't always work as planned.
Long story short - she was definitely firing the projectiles at the targets she set up, but aiming is hard. So if you happen to be walking on the beach, you may suddenly find a - thankfully not too big! - ball made out of energy flying your way, along with a Illya-sounding shriek in the background when she realises she accidentally misfired at you.
What do you do?! Do you dodge? Do you do something really cool? Or does the blast just hit you head-on?
If it's the latter, you at least don't have to worry. It's strong enough to knock you over - to, you know, unelegantly land face-first in the sand, for example - but certainly not to actually hurt beyond that. ]

But seriously. How in the hell did she end up with such a cute outfit when they're all relying on Decadence? Idols, man.
She spends a good amount of time exploring, mostly sticking to caves above the water – she's not the strongest swimmer so even in the Dream Sphere, a deep dive is a little beyond her. She mostly goes it alone, but if anyone happens to stumble across her, then they'll see her snap from work mode to sparkling idol mode in an instant. Just what was she doing in here? ]
Want to come explore with me? How far do you think it goes?
[ Once she's done 'splorin, Ai sets herself to constructing a massive sandcastle on the beach, all glittering sand and gemstones. It's a pretty, uh, approximate shape since she doesn't have any tools to use over here in the Dream Sphere, but it's getting taller and taller...
Once the day wraps and everyone huddles around the bonfire, Ai pipes up with a mischievous smile on her face. ]
Do you really want a scary story from me? If I wanted to, I could really scare the pants off you!

Cinnabar notices Ai trying to place two especially large gemstones - a ruby and an aquamarine - at the top of the castle, just out of her reach.]
...If you don't mind, maybe I can help?
[Having discarded their heavy jacket and boots, Cinnabar has stripped down to their idea of relaxed, comfortable beach wear: a high-collared blouse (complete with necktie) and a pair of shorts. They're surrounded by floating globs of mercury and crushed glass, but the globs are considerable larger that usual. Normally, Cinnabar keeps most of the mercury hidden within their body, but here in Facet Lagoon, the added weight would cause them to sink into the sand. As it is, they're unable to swim.
They form their mercury into a something like a long, tentacle-like arm tipped with an open hand. With their height, it will be easy to set the gemstones in place.]
You're... Ai-Doll, right? Hanako's mentor...

[Things have seemed like they've been at a breakneck pace for a while--at least for her! So Sam has managed to find herself a bikini (probably thanks to Decadence, let's be real), and is soaking up the sun. Lounging on a beach towel, drink in hand, she's watching some of the other Dreamers play in the surf. Maybe she'll join them later, but for now, it's time to simply relax and bask in the balmy weather and the awesome rays. Maybe she'll get a tan? (Not in Winter form, she won't, and she already has one in Summer, which is her current look, so...okay, maybe she'll work harder on her tan....) Too bad it doesn't translate into the waking world. Not without effort in the waking world, anyway! She's also spectating beach volleyball, for the moment, lifting her free hand to her mouth to cheer someone on!]
Yeah, that's right! Go! Spike it! Spike it!
ii, ah, hot summer nights, that's my time of the year
[D-Tune hadn't lived close enough to a real, ocean beach in her childhood--sure, she lived near one of the Great Lakes, and that was good enough (or so she'd thought at the time!), but this was just so much more awesome, with the wind and the white-ruffly waves crashing on to the beach. So she's not content to sit and watch, so eventually, even Sam gets into playing some beach volleyball, herself. She wasn't good enough in grade or high school to be on a JV or varsity team, but that didn't prevent her from enjoying the sport and getting involved whenever she could.
Like now.
It's currently Sam's turn to serve--normally, she might try to spike it and just snag the point, but she considers all the Dreamers she knows her friends. So she's lobbing a gentle underhand serve in an attempt to prolong the enjoyment. By now, the bright summery sun has started its dip towards the horizon, so the glare isn't as bad and it's easy to track the trajectory of the volleyball. Sam herself is laughing.]
Get it! Come on! You can do it!
iii. singing songs that could only catch the ear of the desperate
[As the day winds down, Sam can be found near the bonfire, playing music on what--is definitely not just a guitar, but her Dreamer weapon has always done double duty. Her fingers strum lightly over the strings--if she goes too hard, it's going to sound LOUD, and that is not the vibe she feels like spreading right now. She could sing, but she's still feeling more than a bit shy about that, so she's just doing instrumental pieces for now. Things she wouldn't normally approach her band with, mostly because they do prefer to play it loud. Which normally would work anywhere but a beach setting...]
Hey, I'll take your request, but don't ask me to sing, okay? Too much ocean water.
[Besides, Sam was sure there was someone else around who'd be fine stepping in to that particular role. Unless they wanted a break, too--equally fine by Sam!]
iii
.. sure, maybe not as magical as most things in the Dream Sphere, but magical on its own level, clearly.
So she's listening to the music, until Sam stops, talking about requests. Illya can think of something, it's at the tip of her tongue, but then before she can make the words roll off said tongue, she's very much distracted by-- ]
The ocean water makes it hard to sing..?
[ Sorry, Sam. Illya can't help but question it - besides, the kid looks young enough that she's got that instinctive curiosity probably still about her. The kind of curiosity that drives one to ask such things, rather than let it slide. ]

This did not look like a staging area for prepping for a mission inside of the Dreamsphere like her guardian had told her. This was a party.
Well, this explains why Barret hadn't come with her. But now she's pretty annoyed, and is about to storm off in a huff before spinning around and slamming right into someone right behind her.]
Out of my way!
[B. Cave Exploration]
[So by some miracle, Serena, despite being as anti-social as she is still at the party. There was at least some good food and... well, as far as she's concerned mostly the good food. She hasn't even bothered trying to figure out something to wear besides her dreamer costume. There was no point it's not like she was going to go swimming or anything.
But then she hears something about the caves. And the possibility of creatures in there. Which in the Dreamsphere meant Torments. Or Nightmares. Which means that once she finishes her food she dumps her plate in the nearby trashcan and looks at whoever's next to her right now. ]
I don't know about you, but I'm going to go head off and do what we should be here for. [Her opinions about there being a party right now have been pretty obvious. Not that she's going to actually, you know, wait for an answer before she starts heading off.]

A. Beach!!!
[Shu has been hankering to get in some beach time, and with the weather being basically monsoon season, that's been a disappointing no-go. So of course he is delighted and ready to join in the summer fun in the dreamsphere! His usual Dreamer outfit is not very beach-friendly, though, so to his minor regret he does go to the Decadence Surf Shack for some swimwear. The eye-searing flamingo trunks are certainly nothing he would pick out for himself, but he wears them like he did anyway. It isn't like he has much choice, and besides, if it gets someone else to giggle a little, why not?]
[Like any beach loving kid, he makes a break for the shoreline, running all the way onto the wet low-tide sand and laughing as he kicks up chunks of it and splashes into the water. It's refreshing and cold, and he digs his feet into the sand, toes first, while the waves lap up his calves.]
Now that's what I'm talking about!
B. Watermelon smash!
[Goodness only knows how or where someone got a matching flamingo handkerchief to tie over his eyes. It was probably Ango. Anyway, it's Shu's turn to have a go at the big ol' fruit. Are you helping, or hindering with your shouting? Shu for his part is holding up his shield instead of a stick, sideways, like he could slice down the center with the edge. Surely this is a good idea.]
C. Bonfire
[Someone helped himself to the snack table and that someone is Cerulean. He has several boxes of graham crackers that might or might not have sparkling edible gold mixed in with the cinnamon, chocolate bars of many flavors and colors, and marshmallows that change colors when you heat them up!]
Hey, Come grab a stick!
B
[Look, Zeke's not one to deny someone using an inappropriate item to smack a watermelon, and by the way, don't ask why his sword has seeds on it. But that means you have to do it right!]

[This is all, without a doubt, Misfire's jam. Being a Florida man, he's all about Beach. And, quite frankly? He's been missing it. After getting a questionable swimsuit from Ango (because that flight suit is just too heavy), he helps himself to a generous helping of the food on offer and plops himself right underneath an umbrella, splayed out in the sand.]
Ahh. Now that's more like it. [He takes a long sip of a brightly coloured, obnoxiously fruity drink.] Why can't we run into beach dreams more often?
ii. let's go get a wave
[Eventually bored of sitting around - and not quite able to doze off yet - Misfire heads out into the water, brandishing his Dreamer weapon. Knee-deep, he seems to be trying to....take it apart? He's doing something to that toy gun, and getting increasingly more frustrated by it.]
Come on, you good-for-nothing --
iii. they say what they gonna say
[At the bonfire, Misfire's got another drink in hand and is reclining on the other. Whether you're just joining him or you've been there for some time, minding your own business, he leans towards you with interest.]
Hey, you ready for a scary story?
iii
He was playing with a small pile of sand when Misfire leant over to him about scary stories.]
Hmm? Oh, sure! I'd love a good scary story right now.
[He leaves his sand pile and turns to give Misfire his full attention, chin in his hands as he leans on his knees.]
I'm ready!

Beaches suck. This is something which should be obvious to everyone. They were uncomfortably hot, with nothing to offer but sand to get all over you and water that was probably going to be filled with jellyfish constantly looking to sting you. Why would anyone ever want to go to such a place? It was definitely not something Miruca enjoyed.
But in the dreamsphere, it wasn't so bad. She wasn't going to end up with crispy skin and feeling drowsy from the sun. She might even wake up feeling refreshed! And that is why she is doing her best to enjoy it in the most lazy way possible. At a slight distance from the main crowds, she'd set up a beach chair, with an large umbrella over her. What passes as her swimsuit is rather odd looking, the reason being it was just a slight adjustment to her normal dreamsphere outfit. The outfit looks like a one piece bikini, leaving her arms and legs bare, of a pure black color with odd glowing red lines running along it. Her normal goggles have taken the shape of sunglasses, dark enough to obscure if her eyes are even open or not. Can you fall asleep when you're already asleep? Because it looks like she just might have found a way to do it.
Someone's in danger and its probably you
The unlikely has happened, and Miruca has been convinced to leave her little beach corner and actually be mildly social. Whoever managed to talk her into it must be some sort of genius orator. But however it happened, here she was, suitably blindfolded and prepared to unleash violence upon a watermelon. Even in the dreamsphere her arms were a bit scrawny, but the way her hands grip tightly on the stick makes it seem like she's less interested in cracking the watermelon open and more more interested in annihilating it in a way that its descendants will fear for watermelon generations to come. "So, I just hit it? That seems easy enough." Perhaps its not as easy as she thinks, however, as she instantly heads in the wrong direction. That's not a watermelon she's about to swing on, its a very unfortunate dreamer! Hopefully their skull is more durable then a watermelon.
Miruca the Explora
For someone that genuinely disliked going to the beach, Miruca was a decent swimmer. She was also mildly antisocial. All the being around people had provided her with a bit of mental fatigue, so she'd decided to abandon her beach chair and see what the caves had to offer. Her overly cautious nature prompted her to stick to the ones above water, the last thing she wanted was to meet some sort of horrifying sea torment and not be able to get away from it.
Even someone like her has to admit the caves are actually pretty on the inside. This really was a dream, not some sort of nightmare, and the odd glow made it obvious. But for some reason the most interesting thing to her are tiny little dream crabs. Maybe they are technically torments, but at the moment she was the one with the power. Having acquired the ultimate weapon, a small stick, she was poking at one, something that it doesn't seem to like, as its little claw grabs onto the weapon for dear life. This just lets Miruca pick it up entirely, though, where she holds it at a safe distance and stares like some sort of predator. "You really look like the real thing. You're not some sort of monster, are you?" Yes, it seems she is casually chatting with a crab that exists only in a dream world. "I wonder if you can eat dream crabs?"
in danger; (it's definitely Lisa)
....it sure sounds like someone's coming up behind her, though, as she sets her drink down. Thumb in her book to mark her place, sunglasses over her eyes, she leans and turns around in her chair to see a young woman over her with a blindfold on and a stick swinging toward her head. There isn't even time to shout or dodge, or do much more than regret that karma has come for her after (accidentally, mostly) smacking Hanako earlier.
And there definitely isn't time to manifest her shield, not that it would do much to someone attacking in melee anyway. Oops. This is going to hurt-
Lisa's vision goes white for a long moment; being tougher on this side is not a perk just now, because the pain is tolerable but significant, instead of completely debilitating where she'd have an excuse to roll around and scream for a bit. She's debating that anyway. Instead, as her body flops forward to lay awkwardly face-down in the chair, she lets out a low, toneless, "Owwwwwwww-"
