So the ingredients come apart and don't mix back together the same way, or the color shifts as it ages. [A slightly more pointed look, as she shakes it softly, the liquid coating the sides of the small bottle.] And like any other thing you eat, you don't want to keep them forever - they don't go bad like, say, milk or bread, but you still want to get fresh ones every so often.
[She drops the bottle of food coloring into the bag in her other hand, ties it shut, and then shifts to drop it into her tote... at which point it brushes the gauze patch, and she hisses, but completes the action with a somewhat pained expression.
