Golden Week goings on

Who: Ben Kenobi and whoever
When: Golden Week
Where: Promised Morning, The Dream Sphere, Dice and Dash
What: just life

-1: Last day of school BEFORE Golden Week-

The last class of the last day before a vacation is the one that no one wants to pay attention to. Unfortunately, Kenobi is a professional, and is imparting new knowledge about the English language to the students at Promised Morning all the way up to the last minute of class.

In deference to how NO ONE is paying attention to him, Kenobi is mainly covering review on what he covered over the last few months: A long segment on how to tell which vowels go where (no easy task), and a shorter segment about Shakespeare. Ben was admittedly not a huge Shakespeare fan, but it was kind of expected that anyone teaching English would hit on the Bard at SOME point. The post Golden Week unit he hoped would be more interesting.

As the last minute of class crawled by, Kenobi ended the day with, "...and NEXT time we meet, we'll get into a marginally more contemporary English author: Tolkein! He's one of my own personal favorite writers so-"

Whups, there's the bell. Kenobi spoke up so he could be heard over the noise of everyone scrambling to pack up everything and get the HECK out of here for Golden Week, "The assigned reading for your week off is the first six chapters of The Hobbit. Nothing too strenuous, so that should leave you all with plenty of time to enjoy your vacation!"

By the time he'd said that, most of the class was out the door, and the ones still there weren't really paying attention to him. Oh well, kids were like that. Kenobi made a note to leave a note online, so that once the rush of freedom wore off, anyone who cared to ACTUALLY study over break could do so.

Any students or fellow faculty who want to speak with him, now is probably your last chance before he clears out for his OWN Golden Week plans.

-2: The nightly grind-

Ben Kenobi Dreamer Saber, in his tan robes and white armor, is a pretty familiar sight in the Dream Sphere. He's not particularly expecting any trouble tonight, but it feels like there's been an uptick on confused newbies around lately, and if one of them gets into trouble, it'd be better to have someone who knows what they're doing around.

He's the kind of guy who likes to lurk, mysteriously, only stepping in when it seems like he has to, so if you ARE new to the Dream Sphere, it could be said to be a little disconcerting that there's some hooded figure hanging out on rooftops, watching you from a distance. He's very easy to misinterpret as a potential threat, especially if you're already on edge for whatever reason.

-3: The knightly grind-

At Kenobi's apartment, there was construction going on. Jackhammers running all hours of the day make concentrating impossible. Which is why Kenobi had packed up his paint and brushes and models and made his way to Dice and Dash, a local hobby shop/cafe. They had a couple of gaming tables in the back, and one of them had a half painted army of little guys spread out so he could work on painting them.

Are you a fellow player? Are you just surprised to see your English teacher having a life outside of school? Has playing Warhammer (Or "legally distinct from Warhammer tabletop war game." Do we even care about copyrights here?) always been something you were interested in? Are you just a nosy busy body?

Whatever the reason, it looks like he's putting the paintbrush down for a moment to stretch. The ideal time to actually say something!

"Mm. Maybe." Misato leans up against the wall next to the door, her expression pensive.

"It'll be good for them to actually read something instead of stringing grammar together like I did when I was in high school, honestly. And the really clever ones will be excited for the challenge. You might want to have a Japanese translation on hand for reference, though." She pauses.

"Not that I'm trying to tell you how to organize your lesson plan."

"I think I'd struggle if you dropped me in Sheffield," Misato says and laughs. "My English isn't as good as it was in university." Sigh. SHe'd used to be so keen on foreign languages--had even had a stint teaching English before taking on her homeroom duties.

"Any plans for Golden Week?"

"Eh, I don't have anything exciting planned either except for some shopping, so it's not like you're the only one," Misato says with a shrug and a sigh.

"That's just how being an adult is, I'm pretty sure."

"Oh, you paint? Like, landscapes? Watercolors?" Misato asks curiously, an eyebrow raising in mild interest. She's friendly with Ben, but can't claim she knows him well outside of a few mandatory work drink outings and the usual faculty stuff.

"Oh. Like gunpla?" Yes, she knows what gunpla are. Maybe she has a soft spot for mecha shows. Don't tell anyone.

"Or like, model planes?"

"Ohh. Seems like a fun hobby, wish I had something like that."

She has... drinking?
