Happy Dreamerversary!
YUMEMIGAOKA

May is always a dicey time to have an outdoor event in Yumemigaoka but this year it seems like luck's on everyone's side. The morning of the 14th dawns with bright blue skies, beaming sunlight and a refreshing breeze - in other words, the perfect weather for an outdoor festival! As it does every year, the Dreamer Union is hosting its annual celebration of the first Dreamer Awakening now fifty-one whole years ago! Damn! Today's the day the entire community comes together to say happy anniversary, Dreamers!
Part of the DU has been opened to the public for the event - while the upstairs beyond the second floor are still off limits, a number of informational boards with quick and breezy rundowns of the DU's functions and how it supports Dreamers are set up around the atrium and on the second floor. Some are informational, some are educational, and a few have trivia quizzes on them that you can answer at the front desk to get a little token for some free food at the event.
The majority of the setup is outside, though - something between a pop-up market and a festival, with colourful sparkling banners and materials lining each stall. Some are small, independant businesses from around Yumemigaoka, some are larger organizations who sponsor the DU (they've gotta keep the lights on somehow!) and plenty of food and drink vendors. A few indie artists from the community are also selling merch and art catered to their fellow Dreamers, with imagery and in-jokes that wouldn't really mean anything to normal folks.
Some particular stalls to keep an eye out for include...
- ⧖ Dreamery Creamery are serving up scoops of their ice cream in all kinds of crazy flavours with a massive array of toppings and cones for you to choose from. To make things more exciting, Dreamers Sage, Soleil and Prisma are all helping out at the booth and serving ice creams themed after their Dreamer selves! How does Soleil Sorbet sound to you? Maybe Sherbert Sage? Or are you going for Prisma Pomegranate?
⧖ Dice and Dash have a shaded area set up for people to sit down, take a load off and chill out with some board games! They've got a selection of games to borrow, but so long as they're not too busy, you're free to take up a table with your own entertainment if you've got it.
⧖ Dream Weavers, famous for their position as the DU's go-to tailor, is strutting their stuff with recreations of some famous and well known Dreamers' outfits! As well as selling their goods, they're also hosting a little workshop where visitors can learn some quick and simple cosplay and sewing techniques to see how these outfits get made. Dreamers Luck, Gungir and Hanako will all be volunteering and... doing their very best at the cosplay workshop!
⧖ Hybrid Colours is selling portable wares like canvas bags, keychains and postcards of the various prints/paintings available at the gallery! Since they only just arrived at Yumemigaoka, all the locations are international or from other parts of Japan. (Aleena will do face painting or hand painted 'tattoos' for kids, teens, or the daring adult and has a small table set up with a catalogue or 'surprise me!' option for it)
⧖ The Yumemigaoka Cultural Museum has their usual setup! As well as a truncated version of their installation explaining the Dream Sphere and its history, they've set up several dioramas of places in the Dream Sphere, recreated in miniature! There's some moving elements like miniature Torments bobbing around here and there and some cute interactive gimmicks, like a button that will raise and lower the water level in the miniature Vale of Sorrow or a switch to make the volcano in mini Fury Peak go kaboom!
⧖ Finally, a soundstage has been set up just a little ways away from the rest of the stalls with plenty of sitting room for the audience. Dreamer Ai-Doll will be performing a small set of songs partway through the day and the rest of its time will be dedicated to hosting a Q&A panel of a rotating list of volunteers to answer questions about life as a Dreamer or day to day goings on at the DU. Please be aware that both Angelica AND Chloe will kill you if you post cringe on main so be on your best behaviour!
There's lots to do and plenty of time to do it in - the event runs from 10AM and starts wrapping at around 4:30PM so everyone's got time to head home for work the next day. Dreamers will be able to attend the afterparty in the Dream Sphere if they'd like to but for the most part, that's this year's event wrapped up!

He does, however, show up when she takes her break... sneaking up on her without a sound and suddenly saying— ]
You should really stop posting so often. You'll end up with a reputation as a sellout.
[ S-Surprise brotherly advice? ]
no subject
[In regards to the advice, Ruby hums in thought. Aqua does work behind the scenes, but...] Isn't this event pro-union though? I'm a Dreamer of the working class! And I gotta engage with my following, right?
[Bold words from a nepo-baby with 100 followers.]

[ Said as if he didn't very intentionally sneak up behind her... but hey, spacial awareness is important for idols, isn't it? She could always work more on that. ]
Bold words from someone with only 100 followers.
[ He says exactly that... and technically he himself is one of them, so 99 followers. Not that he'll ever mention that. ]
You've already posted about it plenty. Keep doing it and they'll pick up on your desperation. Besides, it's already the day of.
[ It's not like somebody's going to see one of her posts and decide in that instant to throw all their other plans to the wind and come attend if they weren't already. ]
no subject
Gah! You're heartless!
But fiiine, I'll just get Prisma-chan and Sage-chan to take a selfie when we're done. Least I can do is thank the people kind enough to show up.
[And also drive up some engagement--she did in fact nod along and try to remember what a friend told her about posting windows and SEO arrangements.]
Did you get any food from the vendors? I'm hungry.
no subject
[ Still, good, that should be fine. Truthfully it's not like he's a specialist in internet popularity either, but he had enough knowledge to criticize her constant stream of posts.
Still, despite his heartlessness, he sighs and holds out a paper food tray of yakisoba. ]
I figured. Here, there's a lot in the way of options, but you can always count on the simple stuff to be good.
[ You can always count on big bro to be ready for this... it might even be why he was actually here in the first place. ]
no subject
[She appears to have forgotten about her insult in favor of grabbing the yakisoba and chowing down. Aqua has been spared from the reputation of a heartless brother for now.]
God, smelling this from across the booths and not getting to eat any was torture...I've been freed from the prisons of starvation...
no subject
And let Aqua never, ever say that he doesn’t care, he clearly cares too much.]Yeah, yeah, you’re welcome. How much longer are you supposed to be here? I’ll get you something else if it’s far off, but make sure you don’t miss the concert.
[ Missing one of mom’s concerts may as well be the same as death, after all. ]
no subject
[Ruby is pretty sure she saw somewhere near one of the booths that can pass as an easy vantage point.]
Does Dice and Dash still have the taiyaki? Get me a taiyaki.
no subject
I'll check. That's all I can say.
[ Even if they don't, there's bound to be taiyaki getting sold somewhere. It's just a matter of finding it. ]
no subject
[Ruby is imagining getting to lounge around and eat a taiyaki already--the height of luxury.]
Oh! We might be home kind of late for after-party stuff, so don't stay up or invite any girls over!
[The sharp part of her teeth poke out mischievously at that last part, like a cat waiting for the chance to beat up a toy mouse.]
no subject
[ Ruby. Ruby Hoshino. In all of the years you've known your twin brother, has he ever seemed like the kind of guy to invite girls over? Actually, let's go even further... has he ever seemed like the kind of guy to invite anyone over? Period? ]
Fine, but in that case, no going home with any guys either.
[ Not that he could see that happening in a million years with Ruby's perspective on the opposite gender, but fair's fair... not that he isn't prepared to hunt down any guy who might take advantage of his twin sister at all times just to be safe, but that level of overprotectiveness is just his default state of being. ]
no subject
[She's clearly fucking with him at this point. Still, he could stand to make more friends in general, so maybe Ruby's bullying will motivate her brother to get a social life! She's bullying for a good cause!
That does not stop her from sticking out her tongue when Aqua dishes back.]
Blech, my standards are too high for the guys here. Don't even worry about that. [Besides, most of the guys in the DU she's interacted with are either closer to family figures or Ango.]
no subject
[ Unfortunately for him, fucking with him works. There is no bullying for a good cause, Ruby. He'd call her a nepo-baby, but as her twin, he'd be calling the kettle black. ]
Yeah, but you're not a good judge of character, so no bringing anyone back period.
[ Ango Sakaguchi is already the kind of man who Aqua wants Ruby to have a restraining order on. In fact, take a step further and put him on a restraining order for the whole family. Every time Ruby goes to the DU building, Aqua is filled with a sense of dread that Ango might interact with her before he can kill him. ]
no subject
[She huffs a little, like a true hypocrite.]
Hey, my judgement of character is so good. I might as well be an ESPer.
[Come on, what complex? It's not like the one thing stopping her from filing a restraining order on Ango is that it would make it harder for her to poison his coffee if she catches him looking at Ai wrong. She's the normal twin here, surely.]
no subject
I'm not a recluse, and you're not an ESPer.
[ He reaches out and lightly bops the top of her head with his hand. Oh the advantages of being the taller twin... ]
Just be back home before midnight, got it? An aspiring idol shouldn't be out that late anyway, right?
[ It's not like he'll go into a full on panic in the event that Ruby goes missing, why would you think that? ]
no subject
[She's probably going to be heading home around the same time Ai does anyway, so it isn't like she's planning on staying out super late. Just enough to see everything cool the party has to offer.
Nothing bad ever happens to the Hoshino family!]
no subject
Dedicated, sure. Responsible? Are you sure they didn't work you too hard?
[ Because clearly she must be delirious, as there's not a single responsible bone in her body. Aqua would know, it's why his sister complex is so strong. ]
I mean it. If you aren't, you'll be paying me back for the Taiyaki.
[ Because surely if she's out too late it'll be entirely as a result of Ruby's own actions and not something completely out of her control... ]
