But yeah, Aqua knows how to do all that creepy stuff reporters do to get secret dirt on people. He’s kind of a weirdo.

[She says this as if Aqua just has a quirky hobby. It at least tracks more with who their mom is and that Aqua is looking out for her, but still. Extremely weird.]

Oh, geez, that's...that's a lot. But, uh, he's not around here anyway, so I don't know where you'd even bug!

Yeah, over-protective big brothers, am I right? He's not even a minute older than me either!

[She nods.] You got a point though. Think this guy takes house calls?

[Something a bit plaintive in that.]

Ah, who knows? You'd have to run into him again to find out, I guess.

Yeah! He got way taller than me, but we looked pretty alike when we were little. [She points at herself at the level of her red sparkly eyes.] Mama would tell who's who because of our eyes. He's the blue one and I'm the red one--so, Aquamarine and Ruby!

[Ruby may be a ditz, but Bruno's eyes are a little more shimmery than usual, so she tilts her head questioningly.] Why, do you have siblings?

[Hey, Bruno isn't from around here, so he probably misses his family sometimes!]

Um. Y-yeah. I used to - well, I mean - I haven't seen my sisters in a long time.

[Used to be one of three. But that's...he's not really anymore, is he?]

Oh...because they're in a different country?

[She softens, a little sad at the thought. Ruby felt so lonely just being separated from her family for a month; longer than that, and she'd be heartbroken.]

But, uh, you know. It's - well, it's not fine, but - don't worry about it.

[He says not to worry about it, but Ruby isn't sure she can completely just forget about it either.]

Uh, well...they're both older than me.

[Triplets aren't common, right? He shouldn't say that? Or is he just being crazy and paranoid??? No, it's fine, it's easy, there's no reason he has to give that much detail - ]

We're triplets, actually. [god DAMN it] So, uh, it doesn't really count, but they think it does. You know.

[Ruby lets out a little gasp when she hears that Bruno is a triplet, and her eyes sparkle with enthusiasm.] Oh my god, you too?!

[Well, Bruno has twice as many siblings as Ruby does, but she does feel the instant kinship of being the baby only by two minutes.]

They’re older by barely anything and somehow that gives them big brother authority! Well, big sister for you, but still! It drives you nuts sometimes, right?!

I know! Suddenly they're so much wiser and more knowledgeable about everything! Ay, Brunito, why don't you just -

[Well. These are pretty old complaints, given how long it's been.]

[Ruby blinks in slight surprise when Bruno also goes off, and quickly breaks into an earnest giggle.]

Yeah, exactly! It's like, "Are you two minutes or two decades older?!" You'd think Aqua's a grandpa in the body of a teenage boy sometimes with how he acts.

Some stuff's the same no matter who you are, huh?

[Bruno chuckles in turn.]

Yeah - yeah, I guess that's true.

Tell me more about your sisters! Do triplets get that weird sixth sense thing people talk about? Whenever I accuse Aqua of using it he's all "you're just easy to read, Ruby," but I'm pretty sure we've done some subconscious mind-reading or whatever before.

[Ruby leans in a little as if they're part of a secret club now. A fraternal-ity if you will.]

Oh! Uh - yeah, yeah, I think we do. Not that it's, uh....hard to tell how Pepa's feeling, ever.

[He's not so sure this is okay to really talk about. Names, specific details...but if him being here at all has been so safe thus far, then surely...?]

She always wore everything on her sleeve. Julieta, not so much.

["Pepa" and "Julieta"...Ruby commits the names to memory with a few enthusiastic nods.]

See, that's what I mean-- Even if she's super emotional, you can like, tell tell. You know?

Aqua doesn't do that either, though. He's like a rock unless he's up to something. Blech, his fake smile is so gross, too. I'm always like "how can you none of you see this?!"

[An eldest daughter thing, maybe, except that Ruby has a brother. Ah well. Bruno does wonder how his own sisters are getting on, but - the answer's fine, no doubt, he knows they've all been better than ever this past decade.]

Right, that big old "responsibility" thing. They kinda overdo it there, like it's their actual job to look out for you. [Ruby sighs, dismissive at first but then slightly reflective. She did disappear for a month, after all. Aqua's always been protective of her and her mother, but this has started to confirm a lot of his worries about being the only non-Dreamer in his family.]

Like I can't fully blame him now since I'm actually going into a magic world and fighting people's nightmares, but--I dunno.

Oh, he's not a Dreamer too?

[Bruno's only really familiar with himself and his sisters, as far as Dreamer multiples go. But, he guesses there's no actual reason they'd have to be all one way or the other.]

I mean...yeah, it sounds pretty scary to me. I kinda worry about the Dreamers I know here, and none of you are even related to me!
