ITS AN EMERGENCY!!!

Who: Marisa Kirisame and YOU
When: mid June
Where: the Dream Sphere
What: Marisa helped discover a new location

-1: It’s An Emergency!-

Dreamer Spark was a talented dream warrior, so it was easy to forget that she was generally pretty inexperienced in the ways of the Dream Sphere, having only awoken a little under three months ago. She was great to have on your side in a fight, but didn’t really have a great sense of what was or wasn’t important in the Dream Sphere.

One might want to keep this information in mind when Spark burst in upon the first group a dreamers she could find in the sleeping city with a breathless look about her and shout “COME QUICK I FOUND SOMETHING IMPORTANT!”

-1: It’s Not Really An Emergency…-

Following Spark was no easy task, since one of her dream powers was flight and she kept on getting over excited and pulling ahead before remembering that other dreamers were land bound and doubling back to make sure anyone following her could catch up while shouting encouragements.

The last leg of the journey was through a dark cave. Despite being nowhere near any body of water, the other end came up on a gorgeous tropical atoll. The geography of the Dream Sphere didn’t have to make sense, after all.

Spark landed on the glittering beach and spread her arms out, encompassing the tropical view a la Lisa Frank.

“Tah-Dah! Whaddaya think?”

It’s certainly pretty, and wouldn’t be a terrible place to hang out for a while, but you’re not sure it warrants the sense of urgency Spark brought to this whole encounter.

There's nothing emergency about this - open

But between Mind, Spark, and Cinnabar, it was at least a pretty easy trip to somewhere this peaceful. That suited Mind, who had, as the kids might say, never been Gucci with danger.

Thankfully she doesn't say anything like that out loud, but her poor slang knowledge already gets her called a boomer by her chat.

At any rate the place is beautiful and hurts her eyes a little, and she kind of wants to just go home and start writing down her impressions of the journey and its result, but if a bunch of people want to pile in she might as well interview them or... something?

"Ugh... what a horrible place." Cinnabar squints and raises a shield of mercury to protect their eyes from the sun, but the reflection off its shiny surface only makes the glare worse. Their feet sink deeply into the soft sand, making every step a struggle against gravity, and crystalline blue water looms threateningly at the end of the beach. Warmth beats down on their long black coat, to the point that they have to resist the urge to loosen their collar. Fighting in a place like this would be almost implossible for Cinnabar, and for a moment they fear that they won't be able to protect the other Dreamers... but there don't seem to be any Torments around at all.

"Don't let your guard down. We have no idea what could be lurking in the water... Dreamer Spark, don't even think about swimming!"

When was the last time she'd even worn a swimsuit? In front of other people no less? The beach certainly isn't the place for everyone, although she's not as openly hostile to cheerfulness. "If I'm remembering reports correctly I'm pretty sure we're not the first ones to find this place." On the hypothetical side, of course, there could be endless beaches. "Which would mean that it's peaceful. But Cinnabar's right, we should at least keep our eyes peeled while we get a better handle on what we're looking at."

"At least there aren't any crowds... we might not be the first ones here, but I don't think most Dreamers know about this place yet." Cinnabar had only been to the beach once in the real world, and it had been packed with vacationers. But they weren't weighed down by several thousand kilos of mercury in the real world, so at least they were able to swim. Here, they'd probably sink straight to the bottom of the ocean. "So we should probably take the opportunity to explore while it's quiet."

It's a little too quiet. Without humans around to drop french fries all over the beach, there aren't even any seagulls... just the endless sound of the waves.

Kozakura would like a private beach. Lots of sunscreen, lots of shade, lots of beer. Somen. Shaved ice. Now she's just thinking about using it as an excuse to eat and drink, which is how adults enjoy the beach right?

"I'm sure you'll yell really loud if anything seems amiss, but watch yourself," she warns.

Cinnabar doesn't ask how they were planning to rescue Spark if anything happened - neither of them could fly, and Mind somehow looks even less prepared for running than Cinnabar themself.

"...Maybe we should check by the water? It's the only part of this place that Spark won't be able to see."

They wipe sweat from their brow and sigh.

"Maybe she'll come back with ice cream. Or cold tofu. Or watermelon."

"Don't be afraid to take your time anyways." The vibes were starting to feel like this was probably... fine. Kozakura figured as much anyways, and it didn't sound like Spark was yelling for help, or being strangled to keep from yelling for help. "But I like how you're thinking."

Cinnabar walked along the water's edge, carefully spreading their weight over a sheet of mercury so they wouldn't immediately sink into the soft gemstone sand. The waves felt pleasantly cool as they rolled over their ankles. Hopefully any poison left behind would be washed away and diluted by the ocean within a few hours.

"Well, nothing is jumping out to attack us... and the water isn't too cold. It might even be safe to swim, if I knew how."

They looked up, squinting against the sunlight. Despite themself, Cinnabar was actually starting to relax. It might be nice to come back here with a beach umbrella, a good book, and some ice cream...

"It looks like Spark is coming back, but I don't think she found any snacks."
