The Damashii Family Housewarming

⭐ When: March 18th (yes I know that’s not for a while I’m just excited okay)
⭐ Where: the Damashii mansion on the outskirts of town
⭐ What: The world famous Damashii family has moved to Yumemigaoka! Takamasa Damashii, second generation CEO of the esteemed cutting-edge aerospace corporation AllCosmos, is throwing open the doors of their new luxury home and holding a housewarming party. There will be fabulous food, wondrous games, live music, even a petting zoo!

… also it’s apparently his son’s birthday? Someone do something about that, will they? He’s very busy.

The party is huge. The party is lavish. The party is a little bit weird? But that’s kind of Takamasa in a nutshell so you all presumably knew what you were getting into by coming here. Enjoy yourselves!

Tables and chairs are set up inside the house as well as outside to encourage mingling and enjoying the weather, which is graciously cooperative with no rain in sight (for now.)


☆ OUTDOORS
Petting zoo
There’s a huge petting zoo with everything from your standard goats and sheep and pigs to alpaca and even a couple cows?! There’s talk that Takamasa was overheard saying that he was disappointed he couldn’t get something like a panda bear on such short notice. There are also horses for pony rides - they're intended for the younger audience but the handler on site won't turn away any interested parties.

Tokusatsu Hero Show
At the request of young Ouji Damashii, there is a rotating series of hero shows being performed once every other hour on a big stage out in the yard. Audience participation is encouraged!

Live music
There will be a big band ensemble performing outside whenever the hero shows are not being performed. They specialize in jazz but can (and will) do a variety of genres. They also take requests!

Gardens
The Damashiis love flowers, especially roses! The rose garden isn’t in bloom right now, alas (come back in a couple months!) but there’s still a lovely cultivated garden around the property that you can peruse currently full of well-manicured shrubs and hedges and early spring blooms. To one side is a cute little gazebo with a table and a few chairs where tea and Mimoza’s homemade cookies are being served. It’s perfect for a more private little gathering!

Meet and Greet with the Damashii family
At one point, the whole family will gather for a impromptu press conference of sorts in front of the mansion and answer questions about the move and the company and even sign autographs and all that jazz. Ouji stands quietly and dutifully at his father’s side during this.


☆ OUTDOORS/INDOORS
Games
A variety of party games are available to play in the front yard and at tables throughout the inside of the house. There’s scavenger hunts and giant checkers and jenga and … look. I’m not gonna get too into the weeds here - if you have an idea for a game, it’s probably here. I’ll allow it. Just have fun!

Gift Table
There are, of course, tables for housewarming (or birthday?!) gifts but these are not required. There's a pretty considerable pile, though. If you brought one, drop it off here!

Balcony
Catch a breather! It’s a lovely view up here on the second floor. There is a big telescope located out here! It’s not a cutting edge model, which is why it’s available for visitors to use, but it’s still quite expensive and powerful! Turn it towards the city and try to spot your house or gaze up at the stars once the evening rolls around!


☆ INDOORS
Food and drink
There’s a simply extravagant assortment of appetizers, entrees and desserts available, all catered by gourmet chefs. It’s an international spread featuring Japanese cuisine as well as western favorites and of course, Mimoza Damashii’s favorite: gratin! There is wine and champagne for those of drinking age, as well.

A birthday cake?
It’s a huge, towering cake, made by Mimoza with help from some expert pastry chefs to account for the sheer scale of it. It is the color of a night sky with piped stars and constellations dotting it. The cake itself is a simple, sweet vanilla bean buttercream frosting with soft and spongy white cake. It looks, by all accounts, like a birthday cake, with 16 candles on top. Was it someone’s birthday today…?

If asked whose birthday it is, Mimoza will smile and tell you it is her precious son’s and try to pick him out in the crowd for you (difficulty level: high, because he is very short) and Takamasa will gush about his dear beloved son who inspired this move - who this is all for - and who is just about to enter high school at Promised Morning… but he won’t necessarily bring any of that up unprompted unless it suits him.

Karaoke
Did you know Takamasa Damashii loves to sing? Now you do. There’s a karaoke lounge set up in the entertainment room loaded with all your favorite hits and classics. There are some really strange and obscure pulls too, so go wild!

Art
There’s quite a collection of art and sculpture in the house. It’s all very bright and kind of surreal. Like, if you are familiar with the katamari series aesthetics and vibe, that’s on full display here. Things like an oil painting of a mandrill eating ramen and a large sculpture of a cow… bear…creature are mixed in with gorgeous photographs of space, boxing memorabilia and trophies from Takamasa’s youth and so on, so forth.

Pat that motherfucking party dog cat
The Damashii family (or more specifically, Mimoza) has a feisty black cat as a pet. Her name is Elmira. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the party (which is very understandable it is So Much), why not take a break in one of the less crowded side rooms with its extravagant and luxurious couches and chairs and pet a cat?

FAQ
Can anyone participate in this log?
Yes! This log is completely open to any resident of the city as the family is opening the doors to the public.

Can I tag other people?
Yes! In fact you’re encouraged to tag around! It’s a party mingle, baybee!

What does the mansion look like?
Located on the edge of the city, the Damashii mansion is western in style, very stylish and modern with a big front yard and a gated entryway. Inside the decor is extravagant, eccentric, and perhaps a little gaudy at times.

What do Takamasa and Mimoza Damashii look like?
Glad you asked! Here is a drawing of them! They are both rather tall (6’5” and 5’10”, respectively). Takamasa will be wearing a fancy white suit similar to this (without the collar) and Mimoza will be wearing her favorite pink and cream dress. Feel free to chat with them!

Where is Ouji?
He’ll be popping up around the party and keeping tabs on his father - I may toss up some starters but I’ll also be tagging around with him. Your character is welcome to recognize him or not recognize him at all (he does PR work for his dad and is, of course, a celebrity child, but he’s still not nearly as part of the public eye as Takamasa.) He will be wearing a suit not entirely unlike his father's but a little less flashy and dark green in color.

[Lisa is cheating with the power of nepotism today: instead of taking the train over, she's arrived in a taxi of all things! This would be extremely weird if not for the thing that gets out of it before her: a truly massive floral arrangement with a card in it. Something in her expression as she steps out of the taxi radiates displeasure, in a way that feels ominously directed at the plant. But once she's visible by actual people, the look is gone, replaced by a pleasant expression once more as she strolls in, a small wrapped gift box sticking out the top of her handbag. She's happy to be here! She'll be even happier once this thing is out of her hands-]

[A | gardens]
[Lisa likes flowers well enough and would happily spend time in a garden anyway, but someone takes very careful care of this one, and she's happy to stroll through it for a bit. Nothing super rare, but even what's here is enough to pick up her spirits. Shrubbery, sure, but there are enough things in bloom right now to hold her attention and make her wish it was just a little warmer. Well, not last-month The-Thing-Is-Happening warm, but. Normal spring warm? So she'll be here, usual red scarf on to catch the eye.

She grabs a seat at the gazebo at one point, wanting to try the lady of the house's cookies; she knows what she herself can make and is curious what the best ingredients and finest tools can produce. The sparkle in her eyes as she bites into a checkerboard cookie suggests the answer is "miracles".]

Oh, you have to try this. I wonder if I can get the recipe, I don't know everything she used in these but they're amazing.

[Lisa found the karaoke setup relatively early, and while she continues to maintain she's not a singer... she's getting better as she has more excuses to practice. Takamasa has taste, in this if nothing else, and she'll gladly hang out here from time to time. She's... a little bolder here than she is on her bass, though. You could probably get her to sing almost anything. Need someone to sing your backing vocals? She's got you. And, perhaps importantly, she looks like she's really having fun and getting into it.]

I'd spend ten thousand hours, and ten thousand more-

[...but eventually even her social batteries run low, and Lisa comes up to the balcony to take a break, like everyone else seems to be doing, a small piece of birthday cake brought with her to enjoy in private. She recognizes why right away - the view from up here is phenomenal, and while the telescope is something she doesn't have a lot of interest in for its own sake, it's fancy enough that she's a little curious? Mostly, though, she just sits up here, watching the sky as the sun sets and paints the horizon. She's... calm, for the first time in a while. Relaxed. In this one moment, everything's okay and nothing hurts. Eventually, she'll get tired of staying up here and head back down to the party proper, but for now, she'll drink in the peace while it lasts.]

I know, right!? You could give ten people the same recipe and get thirteen cookies and a breakfast pastry back. Mimoza-sama must have access to the best of everything, though. I'm just happy when I spring for the name-brand vanilla at the market.

Ingredients like vanilla and saffron are something else, aren't they?

It's crazy. Vanilla comes in all kinds of varieties and qualities and it's essential to baking almost anything, so I get why it can be a little spendy, even if the good stuff really is good. But saffron... it's hard to imagine that my body weight in saffron could buy a house. But also that it's so fragrant and flavorful that it's worth that much. I think I have half a gram for if I ever need to try and make Indian-style curry.

God, I probably have saffron that's been sitting for way too long to even be useful, too. That's kind of criminal, just leaving a few threads of something more valuable than gold go bad.

Well, if you're not in the mood for curry, you're not in the mood... but it does suck to have something like that go to waste. Sometimes you just want to have it around in case you need it, right? But I bet they go through things pretty rapidly here, so that's not the kind of problem they ever have.

[Sam is a singer, but she's not going to horn in on Lisa's territory. It's sure been a while, hasn't it? Likely it's been a rumor that she's back from outer space America, but here's the proof in the flesh.

Once Lisa finishes the current song, though, Sam's whooping and clapping, hollering just like she'd been present at the best concert of her life!]

[Lisa laughs lightly, feeling good about her singing for the first time in a while. Yeah, it's self-indulgent and she's singing it now because Junna isn't standing there to look at her while she sings it - she'll do that another time - but... she's happy.]

Sam! Hey, if nobody else wants on the machine, I'll sing a whole live show. I'd heard somewhere you were back, but I'm glad to see you again. How are you?

[She's splitting the difference, poking through the catalog with half her attention. Something else sappy, or...? Hmm, choices.]

Eh...I'm existing? Could be better, could be worse, you know how it goes. How've you been holding up? You were a little shaky before I got called back...

[She was going to say 'home', but that's not home any more. Hadn't been 'home' for a while, and it was likely never to be again, so she shrugs.]

Back to America. I wasn't planning to be gone so long, but you probably know how family stuff can go. You think you've got it all handled, and then something comes along to make you realize, no, you don't. But there were ups for the downs, too, you get me?

Existing is good! It's better than the alternative. [Lisa giggles softly to underscore the point. But she notices the hesitation, and nods.] Family stuff can be... a lot. I'm- I've been on the outs with mine, since you've been gone. I've had to make my own ups to go with the downs. But I've had some very good ups, so I'm not complaining as much as I was a couple weeks ago. That was... a very, very bad down.

Oh, yeah, believe me, I am so glad to be back here, I can't even tell you! Going back to the U.S. was a very big thing, and mostly down. Not sure I really wanna go into it yet. And...yeah, officially now, I am on the outs with mine. Heh.

[Sam shrugs again, then.] That's one reason why I came here to the first place. I was always curious about Japan, everything! It's been pretty cool to be here. Not have to deal with the ties that bind and gag.

[She pauses, then.] Yeah, I heard about...that Disturbance as soon as I got back. I kinda feel bad for getting here after it was over, but I'm not sure how much I could've helped. Zeke told me a little, but not details.

[She lifts her hands to forestall any explanations.] I don't need to know anything though, except if Junna's okay. Haven't caught up to her yet, but I think I saw her here, so I mean, I'll go say hi in a bit and also ask her that myself, you know? But beyond that...congrats?

[Sam has had her ear pressed to the rumor mill, but from her understanding, this has been only good, so she figures that is in order!]

[Lisa nods, sighing softly. Of course Zeke would have told her something went down but refused to give out others' secrets. Her smile is still present, just dimmer, and she stops digging through the karaoke machine to look up at her.]

It was... a trial. We got her back safe and sound, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm not entirely okay. I don't think she is, either. But... we're getting better. We're leaning on each other, and on our friends. So we'll get there. I'll let her tell you more if she's feeling up to it, though. And I'm happier you didn't have to deal with it anyway! No sense making yourself crazy for just the last couple days, yeah?

[Hearing the congratulations, Lisa's lips turn into a grin. She flushes a little, though, still not entirely used to honest happiness for her.]

Thanks, Sam. She's... really good for me. I'm trying not to gush too much, but... mm. Junna means a lot to me and I want to give her the world.

Oi! Okay, okay, that's too much! [She's giggling, face red, but she's still clearly elated.] I've gotta earn my penlights. But... thanks. I didn't think it'd feel this good, to get up here and sing.

[Lisa lets out a breath.]

I think I really needed this.

[ Hibiki is all giggles. Who says that Lisa hasn't earned her penlights yet!? Hibiki thinks she has! More than that, though, she smiles fondly at Lisa as she mentions it...

How good it feels to sing. ]

Right...! That's what I'm always saying! Singing really is the best...

[ Hibiki rests her chin on her fist, still smiling fondly. ]

I could tell, too... you were having so much fun.

[That smile is enough to warm her heart. Hibiki is pure and uncomplicated and she really needs that sometimes.]

Don't get used to it! Karaoke's one thing, but... I'm a bassist! [She holds her conviction, pointing at Hibiki dramatically, for about a second and a half... before she dissolves into louder laughter.] If singing's this much fun, I definitely need to do it more often! You should have convinced me sooner!

[Junna's there after Lisa has done a few songs. She was looking around -- talking to other people -- and now she's leaning against one of the nearby pillars, eyes bright as she looks at her girlfriend singing up there. If there's any doubt that she's in love and has it bad for Lisa Imai... well, those people's doubts would be dispelled to see her looking at Lisa like that. She's as happy as she can be, forgetting the worries of being out and mingling.

But when Lisa finishes this song, she comes walking up. She shifts her purse on her shoulder, adjusts her glasses with a finger on the bridge, and then she lifts a hand and does a little wave. She smiles at her.

Junna tries to think of something cool to say. And instead, what comes out is:] You've got the most beautiful voice.

[Then she turns red. That wasn't what she planned to say at all. She is good and properly smitten.]

[Lisa definitely catches sight of her at least once during her last song. And if there's anything that makes her feel like a rockstar at heart - that makes her feel loved, while she's at it - it's that look. But also she's glad that Junna wasn't here for most of it, because that meant she was out enjoying the party and not just clinging to her as a familiar presence.

So when Junna walks up, looking like she means business, Lisa sets the mic down, exhilaration in her eyes and face flushed. She waves back, expecting something about her "set"-

and after getting that, her face turns a little further red, but she can't help herself. She laughs, and wraps her arms tightly around Junna, a big, stupid, affectionate grin on her face. This is just public enough of a space - and with just important enough hosts - she's being careful about visible displays of affection. But she can absolutely get away with this, and there's a maximum amount she's willing to hide anyway.]

[Junna's arms wrap back around Lisa, tightly, and she laughs too. She sounds happy just to see that grin and get the hug. It's a little bit in public... but lately, Junna finds she doesn't mind that so much. She can't spend her life worrying so much about what people might think.]

Your star power is without peer! [Junna keeps smiling at Lisa, as happy as can be. And with her arms around Lisa, and with a brief consideration of how many people are around, how close they are, and if there's any chance of smacking into someone. None, she thinks. But is she brave enough to do this? Is it too much?

Nope, she's exactly this theatrical.

So when the next song starts up, laughing all the while, Junna lifts Lisa up in the hug, does a spin with her, and sets her down. Then looks into her eyes. Her voice is a little quiet.] I'm glad I've still got my balance from those dancing classes.

[The reply that comes to mind is that Sam is here and Senpai might be here, and their star powers are demonstrably larger. What she actually says is-]

That's me! Brightest in the night sky, leading the waaaay-!

[Her quip took a little too long to come out, and so she's finishing it as she's picked up and spun around, turning into a surprised yelp that dissolves into a giggle. Not of fear, just of wondering how it happened, and why her girlfriend is so strong. (You know this, Lisa, she draws a bow on this side too. Pull yourself together.) The exhilaration doesn't leave her face.]

Me too. That would have gone a lot worse if I tried. [Just as quiet, but it's hard to keep her emotions out of her voice. She's living right now.] You're amazing, you know that?

[Junna would respectfully disagree... but her bias is known here. She grins, cheerfully, when she hears Lisa's exclamation.]

Lighting up the sky like a glittering rhodonite~.

[At the giggle, though, Junna starts giggling herself. She sighs, then she leans forward -- she's very happy that went so well. Her forehead rests against Lisa's, with a sigh, and her arms stay draped around her.] Don't worry. I'll make sure I never drop you.

[She laughs, then her cheeks flush again.] A-ah, is that so? I think you're just as amazing.

[But as she returns to Earth, she leans into Junna, infectious cheer in her entire being. She's comfortable like this. But she's also determined not to flirt all day at what's nominally someone's birthday party! That would be rude.]

I know you won't. I trust you. [Her light laugh returns, even warmer.] And I think we'll have to agree to agree, otherwise we'll argue about which of us is more amazing all day.
