The Damashii Family Housewarming

⭐ When: March 18th (yes I know that’s not for a while I’m just excited okay)
⭐ Where: the Damashii mansion on the outskirts of town
⭐ What: The world famous Damashii family has moved to Yumemigaoka! Takamasa Damashii, second generation CEO of the esteemed cutting-edge aerospace corporation AllCosmos, is throwing open the doors of their new luxury home and holding a housewarming party. There will be fabulous food, wondrous games, live music, even a petting zoo!

… also it’s apparently his son’s birthday? Someone do something about that, will they? He’s very busy.

The party is huge. The party is lavish. The party is a little bit weird? But that’s kind of Takamasa in a nutshell so you all presumably knew what you were getting into by coming here. Enjoy yourselves!

Tables and chairs are set up inside the house as well as outside to encourage mingling and enjoying the weather, which is graciously cooperative with no rain in sight (for now.)


☆ OUTDOORS
Petting zoo
There’s a huge petting zoo with everything from your standard goats and sheep and pigs to alpaca and even a couple cows?! There’s talk that Takamasa was overheard saying that he was disappointed he couldn’t get something like a panda bear on such short notice. There are also horses for pony rides - they're intended for the younger audience but the handler on site won't turn away any interested parties.

Tokusatsu Hero Show
At the request of young Ouji Damashii, there is a rotating series of hero shows being performed once every other hour on a big stage out in the yard. Audience participation is encouraged!

Live music
There will be a big band ensemble performing outside whenever the hero shows are not being performed. They specialize in jazz but can (and will) do a variety of genres. They also take requests!

Gardens
The Damashiis love flowers, especially roses! The rose garden isn’t in bloom right now, alas (come back in a couple months!) but there’s still a lovely cultivated garden around the property that you can peruse currently full of well-manicured shrubs and hedges and early spring blooms. To one side is a cute little gazebo with a table and a few chairs where tea and Mimoza’s homemade cookies are being served. It’s perfect for a more private little gathering!

Meet and Greet with the Damashii family
At one point, the whole family will gather for a impromptu press conference of sorts in front of the mansion and answer questions about the move and the company and even sign autographs and all that jazz. Ouji stands quietly and dutifully at his father’s side during this.


☆ OUTDOORS/INDOORS
Games
A variety of party games are available to play in the front yard and at tables throughout the inside of the house. There’s scavenger hunts and giant checkers and jenga and … look. I’m not gonna get too into the weeds here - if you have an idea for a game, it’s probably here. I’ll allow it. Just have fun!

Gift Table
There are, of course, tables for housewarming (or birthday?!) gifts but these are not required. There's a pretty considerable pile, though. If you brought one, drop it off here!

Balcony
Catch a breather! It’s a lovely view up here on the second floor. There is a big telescope located out here! It’s not a cutting edge model, which is why it’s available for visitors to use, but it’s still quite expensive and powerful! Turn it towards the city and try to spot your house or gaze up at the stars once the evening rolls around!


☆ INDOORS
Food and drink
There’s a simply extravagant assortment of appetizers, entrees and desserts available, all catered by gourmet chefs. It’s an international spread featuring Japanese cuisine as well as western favorites and of course, Mimoza Damashii’s favorite: gratin! There is wine and champagne for those of drinking age, as well.

A birthday cake?
It’s a huge, towering cake, made by Mimoza with help from some expert pastry chefs to account for the sheer scale of it. It is the color of a night sky with piped stars and constellations dotting it. The cake itself is a simple, sweet vanilla bean buttercream frosting with soft and spongy white cake. It looks, by all accounts, like a birthday cake, with 16 candles on top. Was it someone’s birthday today…?

If asked whose birthday it is, Mimoza will smile and tell you it is her precious son’s and try to pick him out in the crowd for you (difficulty level: high, because he is very short) and Takamasa will gush about his dear beloved son who inspired this move - who this is all for - and who is just about to enter high school at Promised Morning… but he won’t necessarily bring any of that up unprompted unless it suits him.

Karaoke
Did you know Takamasa Damashii loves to sing? Now you do. There’s a karaoke lounge set up in the entertainment room loaded with all your favorite hits and classics. There are some really strange and obscure pulls too, so go wild!

Art
There’s quite a collection of art and sculpture in the house. It’s all very bright and kind of surreal. Like, if you are familiar with the katamari series aesthetics and vibe, that’s on full display here. Things like an oil painting of a mandrill eating ramen and a large sculpture of a cow… bear…creature are mixed in with gorgeous photographs of space, boxing memorabilia and trophies from Takamasa’s youth and so on, so forth.

Pat that motherfucking party dog cat
The Damashii family (or more specifically, Mimoza) has a feisty black cat as a pet. Her name is Elmira. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the party (which is very understandable it is So Much), why not take a break in one of the less crowded side rooms with its extravagant and luxurious couches and chairs and pet a cat?

Can anyone participate in this log?
Yes! This log is completely open to any resident of the city as the family is opening the doors to the public.

What does the mansion look like?
Located on the edge of the city, the Damashii mansion is western in style, very stylish and modern with a big front yard and a gated entryway. Inside the decor is extravagant, eccentric, and perhaps a little gaudy at times.

What do Takamasa and Mimoza Damashii look like?
Glad you asked! Here is a drawing of them! They are both rather tall (6’5” and 5’10”, respectively). Takamasa will be wearing a fancy white suit similar to this (without the collar) and Mimoza will be wearing her favorite pink and cream dress. Feel free to chat with them!

Where is Ouji?
He’ll be popping up around the party and keeping tabs on his father - I may toss up some starters but I’ll also be tagging around with him. Your character is welcome to recognize him or not recognize him at all (he does PR work for his dad and is, of course, a celebrity child, but he’s still not nearly as part of the public eye as Takamasa.) He will be wearing a suit not entirely unlike his father's but a little less flashy and dark green in color.

Jeannette has brought a gift, to welcome and thank her new neighbors - it is a basket full of goods from the Matsuba World Market - but she is not sure that's the kind of thing a teenaged boy would like, given that Pierre mocked her soundly for it......and besides, it is cruel to give someone a gift that was not picked directly with them in mind!

Oh no. What to do? Still holding her basket, Jeannette glances back towards the entrance. Will she have time to leave, find something for the birthday boy, and return....? ]

[Junna comes up with... a handful of playbooks for performances from the Riverwalk Theater's upcoming performances! These are nice, formal affairs: professionally bound with color photography, explanatory notes, comments from the cast and crew, and more. It's for several plays this season.

She slides them onto the table, with the other gifts.]

[Lisa deposits two items onto the tables, with what seems like varying levels of enthusiasm and very different sizes.

The first is very clearly a housewarming gift: a huge floral arrangement nearly half Lisa's own height, professionally made, tasteful, and colorful, appropriate for a family such as the Damashiis, carefully selected not to have ambiguous messages in its component flowers. She needed a little help to get it onto the table safely, but it seems to have made it undamaged? A small card proclaims it's from the Imai Realty Group, and contains a formal congratulations and wish for good fortune. It's... very much someone with money and taste appealing to someone else with money and taste, but it does its job well. Lisa does her best not to look at it once she's set it down.

The second is very clearly not a housewarming gift: it's a small box, wrapped in a red bow and addressed to "Damashii Ouji-sama" in a girl's light and flowing handwriting. Inside is a pair of clearly hand-knit mittens of reasonable construction, in a deep navy blue with glittering silvery sparkles that make them look like the night sky captured in fabric. It's rapidly going to stop being seasonally appropriate to wear them, but... from what she figured out, it felt right. The size is, mysteriously, just about right.]

[Candles. Candles are nice, right? Sam has found a nice little arrangement in delicate pinks; lightly scented, they would not go amiss placed on a mirror on top of an end table or a mantel somewhere in the household. Not neutral, perhaps, but it is cherry blossom season, right? Maybe she could be forgiven.

She probably should have included at least one more masculine candle. Oh well. And really, who would have expected her to choose pink?

Sam is the type to ask who the birthday boy is; she's momentarily dismayed because what could she give--but the starry motif does strike an idea in her head. And of course, Mimoza is only too happy to talk about (and point out) her son. Despite being a few inches shorter than the good lady, she can pick out the short king in the crowd, and moves to accost him. Sam and shame are only passing acquaintances.]

[Junna stares at the ponies with the single-minded intent of someone who has had a rough time lately and deserves good things. Namely:

Nevermind that she's mostly standing with younger people. She adjusts her glasses... and looks determined.]

[When it's cake-serving time, Junna's admiring the giant cake. That's way more than her so-so baking skill -- though, she has to wonder if Lisa is tempted...

And when she gets her slice, she cuts into it with her fork -- and then she perks up, eyes widening.]

[Sam hasn't been obvious about it, and Zeke didn't blow her cover, but there's an air of that same energy--life has been crap, and I deserve cute fluffy things--emanating from Sam. So Junna isn't the only one standing with younger people. Sam isn't going to torture a pony, though. She knows enough about them that she knows she's too big to ride a pony.]

[Olruggio's done a commission for the Damashiis before. The patriarch has strange tastes but it's not his job to parse the intentions behind promotional posters. Takamasa Damashii was... A peculiar client. Not the worst that Olruggio's had but certainly one of the most unique. So when he hears about the family moving to Yumemigaoka, he can't help but wonder what prompted it.

Still, this is a familiar client and it wouldn't hurt to visit, possibly sus out potential commissions in the future...]

Food Table

The best part of these parties is always the food and wine... [he looks over at the cake, then around at the crowd. He remembers hearing about a son while getting information for the commission... The Hero Show out front doesn't seem to be Takamasa's style so was it for the son? Hm...] But maybe I should have brought a different gift.

Art

[he weaves through the party, taking his time to network with the people there... And check up on any Dreamers that have also found their way to the Damashii's housewarming party. Eventually, he can be found looking at the art on display, a glass of wine in hand]

[Ouji, who’d been walking the halls and checking on the guests and lowkey keeping tabs on his father and making sure he doesn’t drink too much, stops when he overhears the comment. He turns to look at the art, examining it before glancing back at Olruggio.]

Oh? Do you know him?

[He pauses, cheeks turning faint red. What a silly question. Practically everyone knows Takamasa Damashii.]

I-I mean. Do you know each other?

[Keiwa's just in the crowd, cheering on the heroes just like everyone else. This is fun! It's not something that he really had time to see when he was younger... Though if he was being honest with himself, he didn't have any particular interest in them either. But now that he was a Kamen Rider Dreamer himself, he could see the appeal.

The excitement in the crowd when the main masked hero takes on the evil villain was palpable. How could Keiwa not be caught up in the mood?]

This is pretty fun...! But they have to perform every other hour? Actors really are impressive.

Pet Cat

[his uncle has mentioned AllCosmos in passing a few times... So he'd given into curiosity to come visit the party, bearing a simple housewarming gift that he'd left at the gift table (with some embarrassment after seeing all the nicer quality gifts that were there... Really, the small porcelain tanuki figure seems silly in comparison). He thought about leaving after dropping the gift off! He really did!!

After all, it's strange to be at a party for someone that Keiwa didn't even know and without any particular reason to stay, but he'd been lulled in by one event after another and before he knew it... Well, he'd gone to the petting zoo, watched a few hero shows, played some games and had a snack from the food table. The Birthday cake was also incredibly impressive even though he didn't know who it was for!

But a shy tanuki can only take so much before becoming overwhelmed! He didn't want to go back outside into the crowds, which means he's wandering around inside the manor until he comes across the cat]

Nya nyaa~

[He's probably going to get punched by the cat, but for now, he's keeping a respectful distance while trying to appeal to it. Please let him pet you, kitty...]

[There’s a little teenager standing right beside him in the crowd, thoroughly captivated. He cheers for the heroes and boos at the villains and is practically buzzing with excitement. He turns to Keiwa when he speaks, that content glow tempered by the bashfulness that comes when talking to a stranger.]

—I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but i overheard what you said. There are actually three separate casts and shows performing today to keep things fresh and allow the actors time to rest!

[Takamasa had spared no expense.]

I-If you enjoyed yourself, you should come see the next one too!

Petting Zoo

[Big housewarming parties like these weren't normally Amane's thing-- it was true that his shyness had improved leaps and bounds over the years, but social butterfly he was not.

However. HOWEVER!!

This? This was different. He had nearly upset his phone in shock when he had learned that the Damashiis (the Damashiis, the very ones behind the most cutting edge aerospace corporations in the East!!) were moving to Yumemigaoka of all places. Not Tokyo, not Osaka, but here, this relatively modest-sized city with only Dreamer culture as its claim to fame. Perhaps that might have been clue to why they might have moved base, but Amane was too gobsmacked to really think too hard about the implications behind all of this. (And honestly, after the month he's just had, the less usage of his brain the better--)

So of course he had to go to this party and see things for himself!! Maybe not so much to meet the CEO and his family (he would probably wither and die on the spot if he wound up being perceived by them), but to scope the place out and see what sort of neat technology they might be hiding away in their home. Not that he expects anything too high spec or powerful, but there gotta be something here, right...?

... well. So far, his travels had lead him through an odd art gallery, some hero shows, and a garden that would probably make Shinsha shed a tear in appreciation, but nothing outright spacey yet. However, he slows down once he reaches the petting zoo, his eyes catching upon something... long. And fluffy. His large eyes seem to get even bigger as he takes in the alpacas milling near the gate, his expression awe-struck and almost reverent.]

WHOA...

[His fingers twitch, almost itching to run his hands through the floofy animals in front of him. C-Could... could he actually do that? Could he actually pet one of these things??]

PET THAT MOTHAFUCKIN PARTY CAT

[All the running around (and the alpaca floofing) was all well and good, but Amane had to take a break sometime. So, after loading up a considerably sized dish with the many tasty treats from the food table (don't judge him, he's in a growth spurt right now!!!), he settles in to tuck into his plate, content to listen to the sounds of the party outside for now. It was good to let his social battery recharge just a little bit before going back into the fray!

A black form slinks into view as he's in the midst of eating, however, and he pauses, curiously eying the kitty lingering nearby. It was like looking at a twin-- I mean, triplet After a moment or so of consideration, he fishes a shrimp from the creamy depths of his half-finished gratin, wiping off the sauce a little before dangling it expectantly in the cat's direction. He's feline-savvy enough to know not to immediately grab or touch the kitty without it's okay... although maybe not so much so that he won't offer it some table scraps as a treat. There's a reason why the Yugi cats are kind of chubby, after all...

A few moments of "pskpskpsks"-ing and some shrimp wiggling later, though, and he frowns slightly, his cat wooing skills bearing very little fruit.]

... hmm. Maybe you're more of a chicken type? Too bad I ate all the karage already though...

Balcony

[After he's finished eating and had a bit of a breather, he's back at it again exploring the party (and the house), getting caught up in the occasional card game or karaoke session he happens to stumble into RIP to those in the latter, though--. It's easy to get lost in a place like this, however, and it's not until the sun is starting to sink beneath the horizon that he finally stumbles upon the balcony on the second floor. Once his eyes fall across the telescope set up there though...]

[His exhilaration is so great that he can only manage a strangled squeak as he rushes forward, oblivious to anyone else possibly milling about the same space.]

I can't believe it-- is that a William Optics Fluorostar?! The imaging detail on this is insane...!!

[Not to mention costs a ton-- the modest telescope Amane has squirreled away in his room only was a fraction of the price, and that was AFTER he saved up his allowance for months...!

There's a huge smile threatening to break its way across his face as he starts to play with the settings, an almost childlike glee taking over him. Amane isn't exactly the stoic type, by any means, but the unfiltered excitement and joy radiating off of him as he babbles on is a rare sight indeed. In fact... it's kinda endearing, really.]

Oh man, I wonder if we'll be able to spot Antares with this-- I think it's supposed to be closer to the moon tonight, but that might be more towards the morning. We'll really be able to see its bright orange color with how good the contrasting on this thing is, though...!

[SOMEONE STOP HIM, HE'LL GO ON ALL NIGHT]

[Junna pokes her head out on the balcony, and then steps out onto t. She looks towards the telescope for a second. She likes astronomy, but it's a bit of a casual interest; she's done a few stargazing trips, visited some observatories with her parents, and has been in a few observatories. But she never managed to get her own telescope. But she priced some out!

But... now, her money needs to be saved up for an apartment.

She walks out onto the balcony, adjusts that brown hoodie she's taken to wearing lately, and then she smiles a bit more at him.]

I didn't know you like astronomy!

[ Nene figured she'd eventually find Amane around here somewhere. She, personally, didn't quite understand the appeal of space stuff as much as Amane does, but... ]

Outdoors

Nikki is all over the place outdoors, whether he's checking out the petting zoo or, more often than not, hanging around the stage to participate in the Hero Shows or listening to the live music. Hell, he can even be found appreciating(?) the flowers in the garden(??), an uncharacteristic quiet moment for the carefree youth. He is vibing, my dudes...

In fact, you might even be able to spot him in weird spots around the manor. Odd places include; the roof (how?), lounging precariously on a balcony railing or possibly just crashing the games by being alternatively crazy good and crazy bad at them. S-Surely one person's luck couldn't flip flop this hard, right?

More importantly, he may or may not be sneaking into the edge of people's personal space to try to scout what's got your attention. Your personal space? Our personal space.

Indoors

Inside, he behaves a bit better. Nikki drops by to chat with a tall woman with purple dyed hair every now and again - anyone who has visited Hybrid Colours or takes a minute to look at them will recognize that she's Nikki's mother and the gallery's proprietress pretty easily - before running off to do... Nikki things. Whatever those are.

When indoors, Nikki can more often than not be found hanging around the food tables. Contrary to some people's impression of him, Nikki seems to prefer to graze like some sort of small woodland critter, taking the opportunity to snag a few finger foods so he can still move around while eating. Though once or twice, he can be found sitting at a table, carefully eating a gratin...

If you're lucky, you might catch him burning his tongue while eating too! A rare Nikki L found out in the wild!!

You know who is also vibing? Tsukasa. One might say that is all he's ever doing.

He's been looking around the house, trying to find good places to sneak around and get information. One can never have too much gossip.

When he's outside, he sees Nikki up on the roof and gasps.

"Whoa! You could get up there?" Tsukasa had tried but well, he doesn't have all the skills.

["How?" Probably the same way Nagihiko somehow did, out of a desire to take a little breather from all the action. He's a bit surprised to see someone else up here before him, but...

...oh, hold on, he's met this guy before, right? As both...? Maybe...??? At least as Nagihiko, maybe once. Though he thinks he met someone as Maihime within the Dreamsphere who looked pretty similar, so this is probably him? He really needs a better way to keep track of everything. Even stuff he feels sure about gets confusing.]

Nice view from up here, huh? [He just kinda grins and plops himself down next to Nikki. Hi, you have a roof companion now.]

[Attending this party was kinda a given, since the Fujisakis wanted to reach out more and he was always up for a good time! ...but. Yeah. That was the kicker; Nadeshiko wouldn't be attending, because of course he seemed to now be on a Nagihiko streak.

He'd just have to justify it as her being "busy" and him "attending in her stead" and hope nobody has suspicions otherwise...]

I: Food + Cake (or: man now i want cake too)

[At first, Nagihiko does hang back a bit. For one thing, he's supposed to only know a few people here, since a lot of people from the DU seem to be attending and Nadeshiko's the one who's supposed to know them, not him. So he does play wallflower for a while, mostly nibbling at the food and watching some of the other stuff happen.

...then he notices the cake, and that gets a low whistle out of him because wow that's a big and pretty cake.]

Now that's impressive...

[His eyes do flicker around at the candles...this definitely seems like a birthday cake...hmmm...]

II: Live Music (or: YEAH BABY THIS IS HIS MOMENT!!!)

[Eventually, he does go outside. He's first just looking around at everything happening, until he gets close to where the band's playing.

It starts with just him tapping his foot and softly humming to himself...but a Fujisaki can never resist the pull of a performance forever, and that goes double for him.

So it isn't long until he's in the full midst of it, dancing to the music with visible skill and experience! He's built up a bit of a crowd, and is very clearly having the time of his life.

If you're also dancing, he'll grin at you and do a silly little bow, as if inviting you to make this a dual performance. If you're looking like you want to join but aren't, on the other hand? Yeah he's giving you a more cheeky, mischievous grin and dragging you in. Enjoy yourself, dangit!!]

III: Balcony (or: chill times now. check out that space)

[Eventually, though, even his energy reaches the limit. Once evening begins to settle in, Nagihiko's ready to just relax a bit before heading home.

Around that time, you'll find him on the balcony, quietly watching the sky as it begins to fade from sunset to starlight. He occasionally glances over at other people using the telescope, but doesn't seem to hold any interest in using it himself, apparently content with just watching the sky as he is.]

It is, isn't it? Way beyond my skills. But I'm so glad they made sure Ouji-kun was appreciated too, and not just Takamasa-sama.

[Huh. This boy looks kinda like Nadeshiko... well, it's not exactly a small city, and didn't. Didn't Nadeshiko have a brother? Anything on the far side of February is kind of fuzzy at the moment, but it definitely sounds right?]

[The young Ouji does in fact enjoy dancing — all of the Damashiis do — but he’s much too shy to ever really do it in public. That sort of thing was best left to his cousins Dipp and Peso. He was perfectly content to just stand on the outskirts of the crowd and watch Nagihiko, so when the dancer mischievously takes him by the wrist and pulls him onto the impromptu dance floor, he’s completely taken aback.]

E-ehhhh?! N-no, I couldn’t possibly—!

[But it’s too late to object, isn’t it? Aahh… what should he do?! He … rocks back and forth stiffly, not sure what to do with his hands.]

[Lisa is cheating with the power of nepotism today: instead of taking the train over, she's arrived in a taxi of all things! This would be extremely weird if not for the thing that gets out of it before her: a truly massive floral arrangement with a card in it. Something in her expression as she steps out of the taxi radiates displeasure, in a way that feels ominously directed at the plant. But once she's visible by actual people, the look is gone, replaced by a pleasant expression once more as she strolls in, a small wrapped gift box sticking out the top of her handbag. She's happy to be here! She'll be even happier once this thing is out of her hands-]

[Lisa likes flowers well enough and would happily spend time in a garden anyway, but someone takes very careful care of this one, and she's happy to stroll through it for a bit. Nothing super rare, but even what's here is enough to pick up her spirits. Shrubbery, sure, but there are enough things in bloom right now to hold her attention and make her wish it was just a little warmer. Well, not last-month The-Thing-Is-Happening warm, but. Normal spring warm? So she'll be here, usual red scarf on to catch the eye.

She grabs a seat at the gazebo at one point, wanting to try the lady of the house's cookies; she knows what she herself can make and is curious what the best ingredients and finest tools can produce. The sparkle in her eyes as she bites into a checkerboard cookie suggests the answer is "miracles".]

Oh, you have to try this. I wonder if I can get the recipe, I don't know everything she used in these but they're amazing.

[Lisa found the karaoke setup relatively early, and while she continues to maintain she's not a singer... she's getting better as she has more excuses to practice. Takamasa has taste, in this if nothing else, and she'll gladly hang out here from time to time. She's... a little bolder here than she is on her bass, though. You could probably get her to sing almost anything. Need someone to sing your backing vocals? She's got you. And, perhaps importantly, she looks like she's really having fun and getting into it.]

[...but eventually even her social batteries run low, and Lisa comes up to the balcony to take a break, like everyone else seems to be doing, a small piece of birthday cake brought with her to enjoy in private. She recognizes why right away - the view from up here is phenomenal, and while the telescope is something she doesn't have a lot of interest in for its own sake, it's fancy enough that she's a little curious? Mostly, though, she just sits up here, watching the sky as the sun sets and paints the horizon. She's... calm, for the first time in a while. Relaxed. In this one moment, everything's okay and nothing hurts. Eventually, she'll get tired of staying up here and head back down to the party proper, but for now, she'll drink in the peace while it lasts.]
